Continuing education can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. One cost-effective option for attorneys with time and good intentions: getting free CLE credits in exchange for pro bono work. Neighborhood Legal Services often partners with law firms to offer free continuing legal education in exchange for an agreement to help out.
Neighborhood Legal Services has two interesting-looking seminars coming up in October:
- October 18, 2011: “Ethical Issues Related to Provision of Pro Bono Services Through Partnership Programs.” Free if you volunteer for Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership Signature projects.
- October 28, 2011: “Helping Domestic Violence Victims Obtain Protective Orders.” Free if you agree to accept referrals to obtain Protection from Abuse (PFA) orders.
