If you’re trying to drum up clients for your practice or trying to find a job, you know that you have to go hobnob with lawyers and businesspeople in the area.  But it can be so scary and/or boring and/or expensive! Here are some painless-looking ways to fraternize with potential clients, employers, and referrals in the near future.

November 5

  • Allegheny County Bar Foundation presents “Pro Bono Rocks,” a battle of the bands to benefit pro bono legal services.  It’s at Dave & Buster’s at the Waterfront; doors open at 6:00 pm.  [Pro Bono Rocks]

November 13

  • PUMP Brunch.  Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (“PUMP”) is a social networking and community development organization for young professionals.  Its Board of Directors includes employees of PNC, Carnegie Mellon University, Pitt, Bayer, and an attorney at Cipriani & Werner.  Rub shoulders with young professionals and enjoy a $10.95 brunch buffet at 11:00 a.m.  You can buy a mimosa or a Bloody Mary for $5 extra, but be careful about mixing morning alcohol, nerves, and your professional reputation.  [PUMP brunch]

November 29

  • The ACBA’s Young Lawyers Division is holding an annual Skate-a-Thon at the PPG Skating Rink, followed by happy hour at Elements.  If you want to skate or pledge, there is more information here.  [ACBA]
