Senator Jane Orie’s former chief of staff Jamie Pavlot testified that Jane’s staffer’s routinely performed campaign duties on the legislative payroll and with legislative resources. In fact, the Senator only bothered setting up a campaign office for show after an intern resigned over her discomfort with mixing legislative and campaign resources, Pavlot testified. [Trib]
Pavlot, who still works for the Senator in another capacity and has been granted immunity in the case, said that many staffers did not know about the improper use of legislative resources because the Senator only entrusted campaign work to staffers she considered “loyal.” [Post-Gazette]
