- The allegations in the federal case against Pittsburgh-based “educator” EDMC just got uglier. Whistleblower Jason Sobel claims EDMC routinely targeted students with mental health or criminal backgrounds that would make them more likely to default on private student loans. [Bloomberg] Ugh.
- The prosecution is about to rest in the case against Jane Orie. [Post-Gazette] Oft-quoted Pitt law professor John Burkoff thinks Jane ought to take the stand in her own defense. [Trib] I concur because it sounds like a good spectacle. Apparently, she was pretty convincing last time.
- And speaking of corruption charges against politicians around here, former Democratic Senate leader Robert Mellow (great name!) is the latest to be visited by scandal. He’s the seventh leader in the last four years to face corruption charges. Who can keep them all straight at this point? [Trib]
